Sri Lanka's holy city of Anuradhapura, Ruwanwelisaya, often referred to as Ruwanweli Maha Seya, is a magnificent Buddhist stupa (UNESCO world heritage site). With Gautama Buddha relics inside, it is one of the holiest stupas in the entire world. It was built by King Dutugemunu c. 140 B.C., who became the King of all Sri Lanka after a war in which the Chola King Elara, was defeated. Currently, it stands at 107 metres in height.
